Ohio States C.J. Stroud, Alabamas Bryce Young betting favorites to win Heisman

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young might be the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, but Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud enters this season as the favorite to take home the award in 2022.

The Buckeyes’ signal caller has 2-1 odds to win the Heisman, according to BetMGM. Stroud, who passed for 4,435 yards and 44 touchdowns last season, would be the first Ohio State player to win the trophy since Troy Smith in 2006.

Young has 7-2 odds to repeat after a 2021 season in which he passed for 4,872 yards and 47 touchdowns in taking the Crimson Tide to the national championship game, where they lost to Georgia. If Young or any other Alabama player wins the Heisman, the program would become the first to produce three consecutive winners.

USC quarterback Caleb Williams, a transfer from Oklahoma, is next at 6-1, before a drop-off to Texas running back Bijan Robinson (16-1).

A quarterback has won the Heisman Trophy in 10 of the last 12 seasons.
